Dear Griots, This is a request for your avid participation in phase one of a collaborative research project for lecture, working title “DANCE OF THE FORGOTTEN ANGELS.” Inspired by my pedagogical endeavors, I have encountered a gaping hole in the current history of the Black Dance Vernacular. Through the years of grieving due to the global HIV and AIDS pandemic bestowed upon the dance community, we have lost/forgotten the budding talent and artistry of many who have perished before their time.
This endeavor will not only serve as a remembrance project, but will also stand
as a testament to the contributions of artists “infamous” to a small network of
family ,friends and colleagues, worthy of being known to the greater dance
community.
I am seeking your professional
knowledge, intimate sentiment and personal experience of at least one (1)
performing artist, dancer, choreographer, and/or dance philanthropist that has
left an indelible mark in your life, career and the dance community. Please send your submission(s) via e-mail to Ronald@ronaldburtonentertainment.com and continue to check regularly at this site, for named candidates submitted and available for additional comment. It is through these submissions that I may gather a personal/professional profile of the artist, while paying homage in celebrating the life, through dance, of our “Forgotten Angels.”
With much respect,
Ronald Burton
